Nope. I managed to get out of there without running into another one, and it seems like things have calmed down since then?

It does seem so. I occasionally return to continue administering rites to those that require it, but the immediate threats seem to be calming somewhat.

From what I understand, yes. "Hedonistic moon worship" is the closest thing I've heard to a description of what the locals believe in.
